Blocks/Slopers
Blocks/Slopers are the foundation for making patterns ... everything starts with a block ... being able to manipulate a block means never having to buy a pattern again! We use a block to keep proportion consistent across various sizes when we make new designs ... all big companies have their own set of blocks from which they make their patterns.
Anyone considering designing patterns or garments for commercial sale must start with a set of standard sized blocks for their particular market. Blocks shouldn't really be designated as S, M, L, etc., but by an actual measurement, usually bust or hips. It's after at the pattern stage that you allocate an arbitrary size name.
My block systems are deliberately designed so that people can edit them in a CAD program so they include files for Adobe Illustrator (AI), Corel Draw (CDR) and Inkscape (SVG). I also include a layered PDF file for people who just want to print the blocks only and work on paper (PDFs can be printed in software like Adobe Acrobat).
If you want to design a range of swimwear or dancewear for retail RTW sizing then you're going to need a set of blocks! These are aimed at anyone from professional designers to beginner pattern makers.
My blocks also come with my continuous update policy ... once you purchase a particular set, if I update it, you can request the update for free at any time by emailing me with your receipt.
