Swimwear Collection Part 7 - Microkinis
This collection contains patterns for 6 different Ready to Wear microkini top and bottom styles. It's taken from my archive of 30+ years of pattern making for swimwear and represents a snap shot journey through the history of my work. Microkinis suddenly appeared on the scene in 1998 in Australia in response to changing laws that tried to impose clothing regulations on what were once nudist beaches ... companies like Wicked Weasel suddenly become one of Australia’s biggest online businesses. I couldn’t keep up with requests from clients who wanted them custom made and in specific colours and very specific sizing in order to support the growing protests. What followed were microkinis suddenly appearing on regular beaches ... they didn't get their beaches back, instead regular folk just started wearing micros for a few years.
These patterns DO NOT come with assembly instructions. We assume you have an understanding of reading patterns and sewing swimwear. Assembling microkinis requires using a binding attachment on a cover-stitch machine or a knowledge of how to simulate it manually.
Micros are really an arbitrary item in which sizing isn't as important as one's desire to show off. They have however been designed based on a 12% block and the sizes reflect Bust/Hips as follows:
XS: 80cm / 85cm
S: 86cm / 91cm
M: 92cm / 97cm
L: 98cm / 103cm
XL: 104cm / 109cm
